In Lochalsh the church was erected shortly after the Disruption by Issac W Lillingston, a local proprietor and benefactor and nephew of William Wilberforce. In 1900 the minister, the Rev Angus Galbraith and his congregation adhered to the Free Church.
In Glenshiel a church was built in 1864 and a minister settled. The minister in 1900 the Rev Kenneth Macrae and his congregation adhered to the Free Church.
Lochalsh and Glenshiel were consolidated into one charge in 1968.
