Four congregations of the Free Church of Scotland were formed on the island of Arran shortly after the Disruption. By the end of the century there were seven congregations and two preaching stations. Only one congregation joined the union of 1900 but population changes, long vacancies, and linkages have contributed to the present situation of a single congregation.

At the Reconstitution in 2000 the congregation was vacant.
