Harris (Leverburgh)
Minister
Inducted to this charge
Minister at
David Blunt
Interim-Moderator
North Uist & Grimsay
Practically the whole population of Harris adhered to the Free Church at the Disruption. A catechist was placed there in 1845. In 1848 it was seen necessary to divide the island into two charges. Achurch was built at Manish and the charge was sanctioned under the name of Harris. The other part was sanctioned as Tarbert. The minister of Harris in 1900 entered the Union and the congregation was vacant until 1923.
Please note that with immediate effect all Sabbath services and prayer meetings will be held in the Northton Meeting House the use of which has kindly been granted to us by the local Free Presbyterian congregation.
The meeting house is located on the left hand side 100m after the cattle grid; shortly after entering the village of Northton ( Gaelic road sign : Taobh Tuath ) . Postcode for those wishing to locate via Sat Nav / Google Maps etc is HS3 3JA.
Anyone wishing further details is asked to contact Dr Andrew Naylor .
