Farewell service of Rev TJ McGlynn from Scalpay
Farewell service of Rev TJ McGlynn from Scalpay
On Friday April 4th the congregation of Scalpay held a farewell service to the McGlynn family. A good attendance from the island charge ensured that the McGlynns leave the congregation very much assured of the continued good will and prayers of the people of Scalpay for themselves and the work in Aberdeen, to which Mr McGlynn is to be inducted shortly.
The service was conducted by the Rev. G MacDonald who addressed the congregation from the words of Romans 14v23, “Whatsoever is not of faith is sin”, encouraging the people to the exercise of faith at this point of their congregational life.
After the worship presentations were made to Mr & Mrs McGlynn and to their children, Sophie, Verity and Matthew. The congregation then retired to the Scalpay Hall where the ladies had prepared a beautiful spread of tea and baking. The minister then addressed the people thanking them for their kindness. Mr Campbell, elder, then replied for the congregation and Rev James Clark brought the Presbyteries good wishes and prayers to both the McGlynns and the congregation.

The evening closed with worship.
