Scottish Government and ‘homosexual’ marriage
Scottish Government and ‘homosexual’ marriage
The Scottish Government is currently holding a consultation on whether to rewrite the traditional definition of marriage so that people of the same sex can marry.
However, earlier this month former Scottish National Party (SNP) leader Gordon Wilson called for the issue to be put to a public vote.
Opposition has been mounting from numerous religious organisations.
The Roman church has spoken out against it.
Various Christian denominations have also attacked the Governments proposals, including the majority Free Church of Scotland, the Free Presbyterian church, and even a presbytery of the Church of Scotland.
It is understood the the FCC are preparing a statement, through the Public Questions, Religion and Morals Committee, also attacking the proposals.
It is surely time for all who are connected with us as a denomination to speak out clearly, contacting their public representatives and objecting in the strongest possible terms to this ungodly attack on what is God’s ordinance. Man has no right to ‘re-define’ it.
In this matter let us pray, but let us also do what lies to our hand to do.
