The Parish of Tarbat includes three coastal villages and a rural hinterland. At the Disruption the minister and congregation left the Established Church to enable the congregation to continue a Christian witness dating back to pre-Columban times. The congregation occupies a fine Maitland-designed church prominently located in Portmahomack and built when the village was at the height of its prosperity in the best years of the herring fishing trade.

You can see Portmahomack in the middle of the map, with Inver to your left. If you pull the slide control on the left up to where the arrow is you will be able to see the village streets clearly. The church is located on your left hand side as you come into ‘The Port’. Zooming out again will show you how to get there from Tain, the main town in the district.
