Psalm Singing

Do you enjoy listening to or singing the Psalms?  The Psalmody Committee of the Free Church of Scotland (Continuing) have issued two double-CD volumes of psalm singing (with more to follow D.V.) .

The first CD in each volume consists of 12 Psalm portions from the 1650 Scottish Psalter sung to a variety of tunes.  Many have enjoyed listening to unaccompanied psalm-singing done well, and this CD offers an example of such singing sung in 4 part harmony by a small group of singers.

As an encouragement to praise, these CDs are to be commended.  With their focus on God’s grace in the Gospel of his Son and their richness in Christian experience, the Psalms have provided a truly catholic manual of praise spanning the ages.  These CDs can only help further that appreciation and encourage the believer to worship the One who alone is worthy to be praised.  Samples are provided below.

The second CD in each set is a teaching CD designed to assist people in learning to sing the 12 tunes used on the first CD.  All 4 parts of the harmony are sung in tonic sol-fa, individually.

Anyone wishing to learn the melodies or the harmonies will find that they have all they need to help them.  As they sing along, they will learn the part selected.  Each part is recorded on a

separate track of this CD, and this together with instructions from an experienced Music teacher means that learning new tunes and melodies is now within the grasp of all who are willing to sing.  Teaching samples are also below.

Each double-CD costs £10 incl p&p, but Volumes 1 & 2 maybe purchased together for only £18.
